At the Movies

by Isabella Jordan

The Ruins

Directed by Carter Smith. Starring Jonathon Tucker, Jena Malone, Laura Ramsey, Shawn Ashmore, and more.

Facts of Life

by DaHeap
Gold

Fact: The largest hoard of gold in the United States is not in Fort Knox, Kentucky. It is in the vaults of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, parts of which lie 85 feet below the streets of Manhattan. Fort Knox contains the bulk of U.S.gold reserves, which in the mid-1980's amounted to almost 9,000 tons, worth in excess of $90 billion. But the Federal Reserve Bank of New York holds almost 14,000 tons. The gold belongs to around 40 nations, which have chosen to leave part of their wealth in New York City. Four men working in two shifts are charged with transferring gold from one nation's vaults to another's as intercontinental deals are made.
